About AH Cheater - Romsey
A H Cheater are proud to be the only family owned funeral directors in Romsey, serving the local community for over 100 years. The company has now been looked after since 1966 by three generations of the Peace family.
Our Romsey office is looked after by both Simon and Michael Peace. They are ably assisted by their experienced team including qualified Funeral Directors Giles Sadd, Elizabeth Cox and Richard Gardiner.
Our complete and modern facilities include dedicated Chapels of Rest, set in our large beautiful garden. We have ample parking and are just a short walk from both town centre and the Registrar’s office.
Simon and Michael and their experienced team are proud to continue the family’s tradition with the emphasis on traditional family care.
Our Team at Romsey
Simon has been involved in the profession for nearly 45 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has guided many families through their bereavement with his quiet and reassuring manner. Although still active within the business, Simon now spends some time tending to his animals on his farm.
Michael is proud to be the 3rd generation of the Peace family to work in the business, joining in 2003. Having been to school in Romsey, he went on to play both cricket and rugby locally and now lives in Romsey with his young family. Michael believes it is a privilege to be able to carry on the Peace family’s tradition of caring for bereaved families.
Giles is an experienced funeral director and joined our team in 2004 after working in the profession in Winchester for 12 years. He is a classic car enthusiast and enjoys attending numerous shows and events. Giles understands the importance of showing empathy and understanding to the bereaved, when assisting them during arrangements.
Lizzie started working in the funeral profession after a period of work experience for A.H. Cheater. Having realised that she wanted to do something that would help people she started on reception, gained her qualifications in March 2017 and became our first female funeral director.
Richard recently joined the company following a move with his family from Weymouth. Richard believes it is important to personalise the funeral to both the person who has passed away and the client themselves and this can only be achieved by listening carefully to their needs.
